I had every intention of blogging my Dark Horizon Arts journey when I created this blog several months ago however my 2010 was chock full of twists and turns and sadly blogging got pushed aside. While I am all for a wild ride, sometimes life throws so much at you that passions and creativity gets lost to just surviving! That was my 2010. I truly believe that 2011 will be better. Of course if I didn't think 2011 was going to be better I would be checking out the padded rooms at my local asylum!
Over the past month I have been steadily working on completing some projects that got put on hold when I had to kick it into survival mode last year. Crawling out of depression and back into creativity was a painful process but I am happy to report that I am alive and finally working again. My friends, the amazing artists that I sculpt and create with, have been a lifeline through all of the chaos of my life, I am truly humbled to have such wonderful women in my life. Their encouragement and quiet support over the last year has been limitless, their love unconditional and their wise ass jokes... priceless!
Some of the projects I am finally completing...
My Goblin is getting some clothes, hopefully today, he can't wait, he really has been patient, hopefully he'll finally tell me his name after I complete his wardrobe. His ensemble is fashioned after the Sherlock Holmes character portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. I had lots of fun with that! Seriously, how can you not love researching RDjr?? Pictures of the completed goblin should be posted soon - I hope =D
I am working on the skateboard for a punk rock fairy that I am making for my niece. She is turning out quite lovely if I do say so myself. All she needs is her leather Jacket, boots and the completed skateboard and she is done!
My Voodoo doll is done as are the 2 I made for one of my rocking best-girlies! She hasn't seen them yet but I'll post pictures anyway. As much as this blog is intended to showcase my, ahem, darker side, I do have to clarify that when I make a Voodoo doll, it is to help the person who I gift it to or make it for, never to hurt the "individual" represented by the doll. I am a firm believer in Karma and the Law of Three so there is no way I am going to bring down the wrath of the fates on my head!
Aren't these adorable!! I found this fantastic embroidery pattern at my new favorite embroidery site called UrbanThreads.com. Before I found this site I was wondering what to do with all of the felt I had collected, now I think I am going to have to purchase more!!
My personal Voodoo doll design will be posted in a couple of weeks. I need to hammer out a few more details and it will be ready to roll. My dolls will be for sale and will be custom made for the individual. Details will be posted with the picture.
Off to finish dressing a Goblin!
Cheers to 2011 ;0)
