I find myself thinking of that quote a lot! That one and this one "It takes a lot of courage to show your dreams to someone else" Erma Bombeck
When I start to procrastinate I know it is because I am nervous about showing the world another little piece of my heart. Whether I am sculpting, sewing or creating something with paper, the final work is a part of me, part of who I am and how I feel and as those of you who know me well know, the last year has not been conducive to helping me open up to too many people! So rather then create, I clean or surf the net, arrange supplies or just sit in my pretty little studio. The self imposed rules for Art have helped a little, however, I find myself so scattered on some days that it is all I can do to just walk into the room.
When my mind feels fractured and my body is tired I tend to turn to books and read to settle myself. Of course that sometimes happens too often and I find that entire months have gone by with not a thing being accomplished! Such has been my life for as long as I remember and since I haven't posted here since March I am sad to admit it has been my life for the past couple of months.
During the weeks when I was unable to do anything, I focused on making my studio a place where I can create. I think it is almost perfect! It is definitely my happy place and I enjoy escaping there when the craziness of life is swirling around me.
I have framed and hung pictures that I have taken during my travels and since I LOVE to travel these photos make me smile every time I walk into the room.
As you can see, I have also created some vinyl wall art using my amazing Pazzles machine. The Compass next to the word "Explore" was vectorized from a Free Font I found online and then cut from black sticky back wall vinyl. I love the doll heads in the hanging buckets, I really enjoy creating faces, the personality of the character shines through when you see their face, someday they may actually get bodies and costumes but for now I really enjoy them peeking out of their vintage silk scarfs.
The most recent addition to my world is this amazing Gas Mask which I found at Goodwill for $4.99!! Seriously! By the way, the photo I took of this is crooked, not the frame on the wall!!
Once I clean off my work table and desk I'll post more pictures.
Until then...
D
